Intro to Geosynthetics: Functions and Applications of Geosynthetic Materials

This webinar will cover each of the major categories of geosynthetic materials, discussing their functions and their applications in civil and geotechnical projects. Topics to be covered include: Geotextiles, Geogrids, Geomembranes, Geocells and Geocomposites. For each material, we will review the characteristics that contribute to its engineering functions, and then provide a basic review of how it is used. This session will not include detailed information on design methodologies – it is intended as an introduction for those who may be new to geosynthetics, or a review for those who may not deal with these materials on a regular basis. Future sessions will include more rigorous information on specific applications. This course may serve as one half (1/2) Professional Development Hour.
